His movies and music were received with boisterous applause, followed by a standing ovation from the entire crowd at the end of his talk. Over the next two days, the other presenters repeatedly referenced his ideas in their own presentations. Here's what Oasis Founding Field Partner Gregory Mascari had to say about it:. "I want to thank you again for your lively and on target keynote "The Art of Change" for our Good to Great Conference. While it was evident that you have planned and polished the presentation for years, it came across as sincere and from the heart. Your ability to connect and move with your audience helped to make it enjoyable and entertaining, as well as enlightening. As our company is on the threshold of major growth and changes, your message was both timeless...and very timely. I would highly recommend you to anyone looking to embrace and understand the importance of change, and we look forward to having you back again!"

Sessions will be scheduled on a first-come first serve basis. A 60-90 minute session costs $200, paid in advance. A series of ten sessions is available for $1500, paid in advance. Here’s what one of Rick’s recent clients had to say about this service:
“You are the most gifted counselor I've ever experienced. In the hour session you spent with me, you made me laugh uproariously, you made me cry (in a good way), you took my breath away with the epiphanies you provided, and I hung up the phone feeling empowered, rejuvenated and walking on air. How do you do that?” -Dr. Pearsall

Rick celebrated his birthday with friends, at a '60s party. No, not a party for people in their sixties. It was a 'Hippy Birthday' party! People were encouraged to come in costume and in character, and about fifty did. Here's a rollover picture of Rick and Lindea on their way to the party. The decor included a blacklight, a kaleidoscope lightshow on the ceiling, a beaded curtain, and great music for several hours. New friends were made, old friends recalled, and a good time was had by all.
- September, 2003
In the life of Rick, another year has come and gone, and a new one begun. This past year brought many changes, opportunities and memorable moments. Travels to 16 states, Switzerland and the U.K., speaking again on a cruise ship, daughter's college graduation, mentoring two teenagers, two new books in bookstores, meeting Carl Reiner at the L.A. book expo (a highlight), new Life By Design audio CD, new demo video, consulting on two success-of-humanity projects.
Rick says, "I began my speaking career in 1980, at the age of 31. Over these past 23 years, this career has provided me with the opportunity to travel the world, to develop perspective on the human condition, to meet movers and shakers and good-hearted people everywhere. Allow me to use my birthday as a reason to pause and give thanks to each and every one of you for your interest in and support for my work."

Rick autographed his 'Dealing With Relatives...Even If You Can't Stand Them' (coauthored with R. Brinkman) books at the Los Angeles Book Expo. The books went quickly as there was strong interest from the many bookstore owners and operators at the show. Signing books at the next table was Carl Reiner, legendary comedian. Mr. Reiner exchanged books with Rick, and did a spontaneous comedy routine about the pens that he and Rick were using to sign autographs. Warm hearted and genuine, Mr. Reiner certainly made an impression! Click here to see the pictures

- June 6, 2003 - Personal News: We have much to celebrate this month. My Mom and Dad celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary (click here for photo). My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary this month too! And my daughter, Aden, is graduating from college, Magna Cum Laude, just a few days from now. I'm really proud of her accomplishment, and pictures of the event will be posted on TalkNatural.com soon. I asked Aden to write up a little blurb on what she's doing and planning. Here it is:
"While my plans for the next two years are a little fuzzy or maybe just a little flexible, my long-term goals are slightly clearer. I have enjoyed studying history, but I really look at it as the kind of field that will give me useful tools in other career areas. A specifically history-related job is not where my passion lies right now. I intend to go to work in some international capacity. For the time being graduate school in Foreign Relations is where I think I need to be in order to continue my education. Yet I am not ready at this time to start that program, and so my more immediate intentions are to pursue more experience for my resume and graduate school application, take some time off from classrooms and those kind of deadlines. I have applied for a position as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher in Japan, and I should find out about the success of my application somewhere between the end of June and the middle of July. My backup plans range from moving to Austin, TX to spending some time in Latin America. Durango (CO) has been a really wonderful place to go to school, just as Ashland was a fantastic place to grow up, but I now must keep my goals in mind as I select a hopefully opportunity filled place to explore. Wish me luck!!!"
Aden! Congratulations on your achievements so far. I'm expecting great things from you!

- April 23, 2003 - It has come to our attention that at least a few people believed Rick's newsletter announcement about retirement in order to pursue a landsurf championship. It may be news to you, but please note: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LANDSURFING! Rick made that up! Not to be confusing, but the newsletter was an attempt to make readers laugh, an April Fool's Day prank, and nothing more. So if you've held off on contacting us because you didn't want to distract Rick from going for his dream, IT IS OKAY TO CONTACT US! We were only fooling about the landsurfing! The feedback regarding Rick's new tune has been terrific, so we're going to leave the song posted to the website for the forseeable future. But Rick assures us that he has no intention of giving up his day job (speaking) in order to go back into the recording studio!

It's a real toe-tapping crowd pleaser too. Artists like Rick, (who goes by the nom de plume of Rockn' Ricky) are working hard to bypass the boring homogenous pablum produced by the big labels, and bring their music directly to the people. Not just because they don't have a recording contract, either! Now, available exclusively online, at TalkNatural.com, you can download the MP3 file and share it with anyone you want to, but you better not wait! The song will only be available for a limited time. Click here to listen!
